The Student Health Center [SHC] is a vital part of North Carolina State University’s ability to provide a “Blanket of Care” to its growing campus population. The Student Health Center previously served over 30,000 students and the additions and renovations to the center have allowed health programs to expand, while creating an opportunity to reorganize existing services and operational functions.
The existing SHC consisted of roughly 43,000 gross square feet [GSF]. To meet growing demands a two-story addition of 22,500 GSF was added. The renovations and addition now house administration, medical records, clinics, women’s health, occupational medicine, lab, x-ray, pharmacy, counseling, physical therapy, health promotion, and disability services.
This project is the first LEED Gold Building on NCSU’s campus, the first LEED Gold Student Health Center on the East Coast and the second LEED Gold Student Health Center in the Nation.
